Flower Preservation

Don’t toss it — save it! Preserving your wedding flowers is an amazing way to keep the memories of your special day alive! After all, you’ve invested so much time, money and love into choosing your florals—why let them fade away once the celebrations are over?
Your flowers will be frozen in time, in a beautiful one of a kind statement piece that will be the talking point in any room! I create bespoke, tailored frames designed to last a lifetime, so you can continue to cherish your precious blooms for years to come.
-
I will need your flowers 1-4 days after your wedding/ event. As fresh as possible preserves best! Located in Charlestown NSW, for drop off or postage. Then it’s on average a 6+ months process of preserving the flowers (waiting for them to fully dry out), our local framing company to custom make every frame to order, and creating your tailored frame arrangement with care. I can design them in any format or style you like.
-
I lovingly preserve your beautiful wedding bouquet in 3D, capturing the beauty of every flower—whether it's native Aussie blooms like banksias and king proteas, soft florals like roses and sunflowers, or even arrangements from years ago (yes we can do bouquets/ arrangements that are already a few years old!) The process keeps your flowers vibrant, cherishing their special meaning while showcasing their natural beauty as a whole in a custom made shadow box frame.
I use a nontoxic preserving agent that essentially 'snap dries' your flowers over a few months, to make sure they are fully preserved. Once dried, they’ll move into the production line where I’ll photograph the design for your approval before finalising, so it’s exactly what you imagined. If any flowers didn’t make it through the big day, I offer a flower replacement service to bring your bouquet back to life, or to refresh a bouquet from years past!
-
On your wedding night/ after the event, be sure to trim the stems of your bouquet and place them in water as soon as possible. At the very least, ensure the stems are in water. (Bonus points in the warmer months to pop your bouquet in a vase of water at the reception!)
Make sure the water level doesn't rise too high- enough to cover the ends of the stems. This will help prevent mould and soggy stems, especially in humid conditions. Keep out of direct sunlight and in a cool place. Please DO NOT toss your bouquet if you are planning on having it preserved!
If you do have the option, bring a few extras- from arbour, other bouquets, tables ect. If the flowers are in a foam medium- water foam, keeping the flowers hydrated (especially in warmer weather.)
It helps to have some back ups, and pick the best of the best!
If you have charms, vowels, photos or keep sakes, These can be included in frame also.

To help me achieve the best possible outcome for your preserved flowers, here are some key tips to discuss with your event florist when designing your blooms. The initial condition and type of flowers play a huge role in their preserved beauty!
1. Let Your Florist Know Your Preservation Plans!
This is the most important first step! A simple heads-up to your event florist that you plan to preserve your bouquet (or other special florals) after your event can significantly influence their choices. They'll know to select and prepare flowers with preservation in mind.
2. Opt for Natural Beauty: Flower Types to Consider (and Avoid!)
Not all flowers preserve equally, and some treatments can cause issues.
Go Natural with Roses: Reflexed roses (where petals are gently pulled back for an open look) are gorgeous, but they tend to bruise easily, can brown or fall apart faster during preservation.
Tip: Ask your florist to keep roses in their natural state within your bouquet. They often preserve best when their petals are in their natural, more closed form.
Steer Clear of Dyed or Bleached Flowers: I strongly recommend avoiding any artificially dyed, bleached, or chemically altered flowers in your preservation bouquet.
Why? The dyes can bleed onto your dress, other fabrics, and the frame's background. These flowers are also often treated with harsh chemicals, which can give off a strong, unpleasant smell and may even cause discomfort like dizziness.
Our Tip: Request your florist to use only naturally coloured flowers. There are so many stunning, naturally vibrant blooms available!
3. Preserve, Don't Toss: Protecting Your Bouquet
The traditional bouquet toss is fun, but it can unfortunately cause irreparable damage to your precious flowers, making them impossible to preserve beautifully.
Crucial Advice: If you're planning to preserve your bouquet, PLEASE DO NOT TOSS IT!
Tip: Discuss with your florist the option of having a smaller, separate bouquet made specifically for tossing, or simply use a bridesmaid's bouquet for this tradition.
4. Design for Lasting Interest: The Power of Variety
Think beyond just one type of flower!
Tip: Encourage your florist to use a variety of different floral types and textures in your bouquet. A diverse mix makes your bouquet more dynamic on your event day and creates a more captivating and interesting preserved piece. This is especially helpful for all-white bouquets, adding depth and visual appeal.
By sharing these simple yet crucial points with your event florist, you'll be giving your beautiful blooms the best chance to become a perfect, lasting keepsake.

Welcome to Flor Petal Florist! Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully. By paying your deposit, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, which form the entire legal contractual agreement between you ("the Client") and Flor Petal Florist (our entity name for Keely Scott) ("the Business”) as “our”, “we”, or “us”.
1. Quotes, Pricing & Payments
Quote Validity: All quotes provided by Flor Petal Florist are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Prices are subject to change after this period.
Quote Adjustments: Your quote may be adjusted if the scope of work changes (e.g., additional flowers, different frame size/style, or significant design alterations requested by you). Any changes will be communicated and formally agreed upon. Flor Petal Florist also reserves the right to amend or vary the quoted price prior to the deposit being paid if material or labour costs change.
Deposit: A non-refundable 30% deposit of the total quote is required upon acceptance of the quote to secure your booking date and initiate the preservation process. This deposit covers administrative costs, secures your allocated time slot, and contributes towards the cost of initial materials. No work will commence until your deposit has been received in cleared funds.
Final Payment: The remaining balance is due within 1 month (30 days) from the date your initial deposit was made. Unless a payment plan of 2 payments over 2 months (60 days) has been agree upon.
Late Payment Fee: A late payment fee of 5% of the outstanding balance will be charged per week if payment is not received by the due date. This fee will apply unless a formal payment plan or alternative agreement has been discussed and documented in writing prior to the due date.
Collection/Delivery: Pick-up or delivery of your preserved item is unavailable until full payment has been received and cleared.
Debt Recovery: If an invoice remains unpaid, Flor Petal Florist reserves the right to pass the outstanding amount to a Debt Collection Agency and/or a Legal Practice. The Client accepts all debt recovery costs, commissions, and legal costs incurred by Flor Petal Florist in the collection of that debt.
2. Flower Hand-Over & Initial Condition
Timely Hand-Over: To achieve the best preservation results, flowers must be handed over to Flor Petal Florist in the freshest possible condition, ideally within 1-4 of your event. Delays beyond this timeframe significantly increase the risk of browning, bruising, or mould development, which Flor Petal Florist is not responsible for.
Flower Preparation: The Client is responsible for adequately preparing and transporting flowers as per Flor Petal Florist's guidelines (e.g., keeping flowers in water, away from direct heat ect). Specific instructions for transport will be provided upon booking confirmation.
Acknowledgement of Deconstruction: By handing over your flowers for preservation, you agree that your flowers will be deconstructed as part of the preservation process. This involves pulling apart and cutting flower heads from their stems, and any other necessary preparation steps for drying and framing. Once Flor Petal Florist receives your flowers, you have agreed to this deconstruction, with no turning back.
Initial Condition Assessment: Flor Petal Florist will assess the condition of the flowers upon receipt. While we always strive for the best outcome, Flor Petal Florist is not liable for any issues arising from the initial condition of the flowers (e.g., existing mould, significant wilting, bruising, browning) that were present upon hand-over. We will inform you of any obvious concerns at the time of receipt.
3. Cancellations & Uncollected Orders
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made in writing no later than 1 week prior to your scheduled flower drop-off date or event date. Your 30% deposit is non-refundable under any circumstances, as it covers administrative costs and lost booking opportunities.
Uncollected Items/Failure to Pay: If the final payment is not made or the preserved item is not collected within 6 weeks from the date you have been notified by Flor Petal Florist of completion and ready for collection, the item will become the property of Flor Petal Florist. Flor Petal Florist reserves the right to sell the item to recover costs incurred without further notice to you. Formal notices will be sent to your last known contact details before this occurs.
4. Turnaround Time
Estimated Completion: The estimated completion time for your preserved item is 4-6 months from the date of flower drop-off. This is an estimated timeframe only. The preservation process is highly dependent on ideal weather and environmental conditions for drying. And frame making timeframe. While we strive to meet this timeframe, we are unwilling to compromise on quality due to adverse conditions. We will keep you updated on the progress of your order.
5. Flower & Product Quality Limitations
Flower Condition upon Preservation: Flor Petal Florist takes the utmost care in processing your flowers. However, we can only work with the condition in which the flowers are received. We cannot "bring flowers back to life" if they are damaged, bruised, or wilted upon hand-over; they will be preserved exactly as they appear at that time. We strongly advise against actions that may damage flowers (e.g., bouquet tossing) prior to hand-over.
Natural Colour & Ageing: We cannot be held responsible for any bleeding or transfer of dyes from artificially coloured or dyed flowers or foliage. Flowers will naturally change colour during the drying and preservation process (e.g., white or pale flowers may become creamy or brownish). Your flowers will also continue to change colour and may fade over time (giving a ‘vintage look’) due to their organic nature and the natural ageing process. This is also inclusive of the UV protected glass frames as well. (Following the care instructions will assist in slowing the aging process down as well as mould prevention.) This is an inherent and beautiful characteristic of flower preservation, and we encourage you to discuss these natural variations with us.
Imperfections in Handmade Items: All our preserved floral arrangements are handcrafted and unique. All of our frames are hand-crafted by an outsourced business, and as such, some frames may have minor variations or imperfections which are characteristic of handmade items.
3D Shadow Box Frame Specifics: Some dried flowers may have a sandy or sparkly residue left on them. This is typically from the drying agent used to absorb moisture from the flowers. Over time, small flower debris may fall to the base of the frame due to age, bumping, or moving the frame. Reach out to Flor Petal Florist if you would like a ‘removed and refresh’ cleaning of the frame base; please contact us to organise this. We do not cover any damage caused by self-cleaning or attempts to open the frame. To avoid damage to your preserved item, please do not attempt to open or clean the inside of the frame yourself.
Design Discretion: While we take notes regarding your preferences for layout, colour, or specific flowers, the final design of each piece is at the artistic discretion of Flor Petal Florist and is dependent on the type of flowers, their condition, and the frame dimensions. We do require any design approvals, and have full design choice over final product.
6. Liability & Refunds
Preservation Failure: In the rare and unlikely event that the flower preservation process is deemed by Flor Petal Florist to have failed (e.g., significant mould development during our process, complete disintegration during preservation), you will be offered a refund of 70% for the preservation service - deposit is non-refundable under any circumstances, or an alternative replacement solution will be offered at our discretion. This does not apply to natural colour changes, mould, or expected ageing as outlined in Section 5.
Moulding: While we implement rigorous procedures to prevent mould, we cannot be held responsible for all instances of mould development, particularly if flowers are already compromised upon receipt or if mould develops due to environmental factors or improper care after collection/delivery.
No Refunds for Change of Mind: All sales are final. We do not offer refunds or exchanges for change of mind, either during the process, before or after collection or delivery of the completed item.
Post-Collection Damage: Once the preserved item has been collected by you or by our nominated courier/postal service from our premises, Flor Petal Florist accepts no responsibility or financial liability for any damage to the glass, frame, or preserved flowers (including mould). This includes, but is not limited to, damage incurred during transit, postal deliveries, or subsequent handling. While we cannot take financial responsibility, we can offer advice and direction on potential repairs.
General Limitation of Liability: Flor Petal Florist's total liability for any claim arising out of or in connection with the services provided shall not exceed the total amount paid by the Client for the specific service in question. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
7. Intellectual Property & Marketing
Use of Images: The Client grants Flor Petal Florist permission to photograph the preserved floral arrangement upon completion and use these images for marketing, promotional, and portfolio purposes, including but not limited to, website display, social media, and advertising materials. Personal details of the Client will not be shared.
8. Force Majeure
Flor Petal Florist shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these Terms and Conditions if such failure or delay is caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, terrorism, government regulations, natural disasters (e.g., bushfires, floods), strikes, power outages, or severe illness affecting key personnel. In such an event, Flor Petal Florist will make reasonable efforts to inform the Client and find a mutually agreeable solution.
9. Care Instructions
To best preserve the longevity and appearance of your preserved flowers, keep them away from direct sunlight, extreme heat, and high moisture environments.
Handle all framed pieces with care to prevent internal flower debris or damage.
10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes arising under these terms will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to first attempt to resolve the matter amicably through good faith discussions.
